Walls of Perception

The story of human history is told through what is left behind and what is found. How one interprets the echos of one's forebearers shapes the understanding of the past and therefore oneself.

Walls of Perception explores the interaction between materials, symbolism, and time.

Concrete is the primary medium, cast to resemble fragments of what could be buildings, walls, or even sculpture. At its root, it is a mixture of stone, sand, and water; foundational elements of the Earth. It transcends the natural and human worlds to become an ancient material of man that frames the technical achievements of human civilization and human progress.

What sits upon the panels should be interpreted by the viewer, as one would try to decipher the meaning of Stonehenge. Layers of eroded language, art, symbols, instructions, or just accidental markings blend together as lost remnants telling a story whose original meaning has been lost.
